Trip Overview
| Intro | This section of the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) is considered one of the best. The area has a lot of ups and downs with a cumulative 12,000 ft up and 13,100 ft down. The trail goes through the Alpine wilderness with numerous lakes and streams. Fishing is generally pretty good and mosquitoes can be bad around the lakes. The plan is to travel from Stevens pass to Snoqualmie pass. Drivers will drop of the hikers near Stevens Pass and be picked up at Snoqualmie Pass. Date: 8/9/2002- 8/17/2002 |
| Who can go | A minimum of 2 adults and 2 kids are required. Scouts and adults should be physically able to carry their share of the load. Scouts should be 1st class by the time of the hike and need to complete two training hikes of at least 10 miles each or hikes approved by the scout master. |
| Roads | The trail head is off of Hwy. 2 about 3 miles west of Stevens Pass. Turn to the right if traveling east at road 6095 and travel 3/4 miles to the Tunnel Creek Trail 1061. Pick up will be at Snoqualmie Pass near the Alpental exit. The parking lot is just north of the interstate off of the road to Alpental. |
| Group Size | The Alpine Wilderness limits group sizes to 12. If more than 12 people go, one group can start at Snoqualmie or they can all start at Stevens Pass at different times. |
| Weather | Possible snow at higher elevations in August and mountain thunderstorms. |
